Hi friend,
This time of year with the cooling of temperatures, holidays looking different, and about ten months of isolation it can all have you feeling really alone. I’m here to say beyond the tricks of your mind and the enemy, you are not alone.
Loneliness can creep in when we’re feeling left out or less than. Satan works overtime this time of year to make that feeling increase in us. Satan uses this method to blur our vision of the goodness of god. God doesn’t leave us alone, compare us, or leave us out of anything. He is a Father, eager to father us. And he does this so well. He is near even when we feel like he isn’t and he is working in our midst.
Satan is sneaky but he is predictable. He may be vicious but he is not victorious. He wants to trick our minds into thinking that God has left us alone and doesn’t care about us — just like man. But that is far from true. You know who is victorious? God is.
“Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8
The lies of loneliness can be also showing us what our focus is set on. The world tells us to fill ourselves up with materialistic things and feel good words. That all leads to cracks and crumbling of our foundation... but God and his word are the only sustainable things we can build a foundation on. Lies flee in the presence of his truth. Seek God for his counsel because a lot of times even family and friends can be on the “feel good” side of things to avoid confrontation that you are the issue. That your mind is filled with ungodly truths.
You need to hear truth despite the unsettling feeling that occurs in your belly and the way your heart violently beats. It’s important to not avoid conviction. Without it, you will stay stagnant and that is a dangerous place to be.
“Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the spirit desires. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.” Romans 8:5-6
So when we are desperate to “feel better” and “look better” remember that those things are just temporary. God endures forever and so do his plans for you.
When we feel left out or overlooked, remember you are handpicked by God. Take control of your thoughts and allow God’s word to fill your mind. It will take time and effort to successfully do this, just trust that God will equip you — you just have to give this to him and trust him.
You belong here and you are so loved and cherished. You were placed here on earth with a purpose. There is an abundant need in this world for your contributions to the Kingdom. No matter how big or small they are.
Say it to yourself, “I am not alone. God is with me through it all. And his promises for me will prevail in my obedience to him.”
